Starting the New Year Off Right!

To make a lasting impression on everyone you meet, great skin can make all the difference. However, when your skin is not as healthy as it was in your twenties, you may feel as though you have to cover it up or your confidence takes a hit. Eliminating pore-clogging makeup and letting your natural beauty shine begins with taking care of your skin, a practice that should be a top priority for both men and women from a very early age. We know that a dedicated skin care regimen takes time to get used to, but it can help you achieve the appearance of a younger, more thriving complexion that can withstand all external forces.

Starting the New Year off right at SoCal Body Sculpt means resurfacing your skin so that it not only appears fresh and new, but so the dermis is also primed to resist premature aging. Dr. Nilesh Bhoot provides every patient with a fair set of options to begin their skin care plan with comfort, convenience, and ease. Our microneedling treatment with the Eclipse micropen can start the process for you.

What is microneedling and how will improve your skin?

The key to beautiful skin is to start with fresh cells and tissues that can absorb all applied nutrients without resistance. For many patients, expensive over-the-counter skin creams, serums and scrubs do not work, since the skin at the surface is already dead and unresponsive. Skin cells lose their vigor when they are improperly hydrated and malnourished, as blood circulation is reduced and ultraviolet rays cause damage.

If products do not seem to be improving your complexion, your skin’s surface may be blocked by inactive cells that need to be removed in order to make way for healthy cell growth. Microneedling is a treatment that uses micro-needles within a pen-like instrument to cause microscopic injuries to the epidermis. This process stimulates collagen and elastin production and improves circulation beneath the skin. Microneedling is a way for us to begin the cellular renewal process and uncover fresh tissues without laser application or surgical enhancements.

When you come in for your microneedling treatment, Dr. Bhoot will examine your skin to find out which areas need special care and assess if there are any existing skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, scarring, acne and rosacea. He will then apply an anesthetic cream to calm your skin and reduce any discomfort potentially caused by the microneedling pen. You will then sit back comfortably as he glides the device over your skin; each area on your face is different, so he will adjust needle depth as needed. This treatment typically lasts 15-20 minutes.

When you discuss your microneedling treatments during your consultation, you will begin to understand what level of care your skin needs to see improvements, thereby determining how many sessions of this treatment you will need. On average, patients need three to six sessions to renew the health of their skin. Each microneedling session will take place four weeks from the previous to allow your micro-injuries time to heal.

We like to think of microneedling as a reset button for your skin and all damage caused by the environment over your life. You probably didn’t know that you could start all over again—but you can with Dr. Bhoot.

Winter & Spring Skin Care Tips

Winter and spring are two seasons that have put us through rapid temperature change this year. As we work with you on perfecting your treatments for youthful skin, we will address this change in seasons and ways it can affect your skin. We are just over the winter months, but the nights are still quite cold, and cold weather dries out the skin. During these dehydrating phases, you should make sure that moisture is your focus and that you are applying long-lasting creams to maintain an even complexion and avoid dryness. You can make up for the lack of humidity in the air with a range of cosmeceutical products fit for your skin.

Spring is a beautiful time to look into microneedling since this season is about rebirth and growth. During these months, your skin is given a little break since there is often more humidity and water molecules readily available. You sweat more as the sun shines and can focus now on sun protection and supportive nutrients to replenish what was lost in winter. During the spring months, focus on brightening the skin and adding a fresh glow that will make you stand out from the rest. This is also the time to get a handle on wrinkles and pigmentation, all things that microneedling can target. Remember: as these seasons go through a transition, so will your skin, and we encourage you to prepare for these weather changes in advance.

In addition to these suggestions, we want to stress the idea of being active and regular exercise.
