How PRP Therapy Works to Promote Healing

PRP Therapy, SoCal Body Sculpt, Dr. Bhoot

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a relatively new type of therapy used to promote healing and regenerate healthy tissue in certain areas of the body. First used in the 1990s, PRP therapy uses just a small sample of blood drawn from your arm, and has been celebrated for its ability to heal wounds and aid in the regrowth of injured tissue. Because PRP therapy is so effective in delivering results, there are many areas of medicine which benefit from the healing “superpowers” of your own blood.

The athletic elite first introduced PRP therapy to the mainstream, claiming it’s ability to speed recovery from injuries that otherwise sidelined them for a significant amount of time. Injections of platelet-rich plasma have been shown to aid in reducing inflammation as well as regrowing hair and soft tissue, among other uses. The possibilities are really endless, and because PRP uses your own blood to promote the healing and regeneration, there’s little to no chance of an adverse reaction.

Here at SoCal Body Sculpt, we use PRP therapy in ways that provide aesthetic benefits to patients. Dr. Nilesh Bhoot specializes in advanced cosmetic and aesthetic procedures and can develop of treatment plan to use PRP as a healing therapy for your individual needs.

How PRP works

PRP therapy promotes healing in a rapid and healthy way by stimulating your body’s own natural healing process. PRP works by using your own blood platelets, which contain a number of growth factors that repair and regrow damaged tissue.

The therapy begins when a small sample of your blood is drawn, then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from the other components that make up your blood. We create a concentrated solution of platelets in a small volume of plasma, which is then injected into the area of the body you wish to treat.

The concentration of platelets is up to 10 times stronger than what’s in regular blood. Damaged tissue is repaired naturally, but at a much faster rate, and the rejuvenated tissue is much healthier and vibrant. That’s what makes PRP therapy so useful in aesthetic procedures, such as facial rejuvenation and even hair regrowth.

PRP therapy is ideal for aesthetic treatments

What PRP therapy does to heal wounds, repair ligaments, and regrow healthy tissue, can also aid in facial rejuvenation. As you age, your skin loses vital substances, including collagen and elastin. The growth factors promoted by platelets work to advance new collagen production, which promotes healthy, pliable, and youthful-looking skin. PRP also promotes production of keratinocytes, which are cells that make up the majority of your outermost layer of the skin. This creates a more vibrant and even-toned appearance.

This innovative and virtually risk-free procedure lends itself perfectly to the arena of aesthetics. PRP therapy is a very effective way to refresh your complexion and restore the glow of youth. Tighter, firmer, healthier skin is yours with PRP therapy.

PRP therapy is an easy, noninvasive way to regenerate the components of healthy tissue that time may have diminished. Your body has the ability to heal and rejuvenate itself, with the help of PRP and the professionals at SoCal Body Sculpt.
